Event to Offer Free Fishing Gear to Kids in Superior
SUPERIOR, Wis. — As fishing season is ramping up, young anglers can get their hands on some free gear this Saturday.
One local man will have tables set up full of fishing equipment. Superior residents and businesses donated new and used items.
The first 100 kids 17 and under will receive equipment for free, such as fishing poles, reels, boxes and tackle will be available.
And it’s just in time for Free Fishing Weekend in Wisconsin, which takes place this Saturday and Sunday.
“I think a lot of kids need a break from life, a break from school, a break from friends, a break from family, and to just get out on the water for a couple hour. I mean, a lot of adults need a break from life, you know that’s the way to to do it sometimes. Fishing is peaceful and you can forget the whole world exists while you’re out fishing.” said organizer John D’Auria.
The booth will be set up at Barkers Island this Saturday from 8 am. to 12 p.m.
