First Cessna 180/185 Fly-In Since Pandemic, Open To Public

The Fly-In takes place from May 30th-June 3rd. It is open to the public.

DULUTH, Minn. — The Sky Harbor Airport in Duluth is hosting the first Cessna 180/185 Fly-In since the pandemic.

The annual convention will host 50 aircraft and around 100 visitors all coming from different parts of the U.S. and Canada. It will include sightseeing tours, presentations and a silent auction. The planes are Skywagons which is a type of aircraft Cessna made from the 1950s through the 80s. They can be used in utility roles such as bush flying, as a seaplane or for other personal uses.

“It’s great to have all of these people together, talking about these airplanes, the same type. And then also to share the knowledge, you know these airplanes aren’t made any more so, sharing the knowledge to keep them flying for the next generation and next decades to come is important to keep them going,” said Austin Levin, Vice President of the Cessna 180/185 Club.

The Duluth Airport Authority owns and operates the Sky Harbor Airport on Park Point. They say the new terminal there is almost complete. It will offer updated amenities and a larger space for more visitors.

“I’m really hoping that they take away how welcoming we are and how fun it is to be in Duluth. How beautiful of an area Duluth is. And I’m really hoping they feel welcome enough to come back and use it over and over again,” said Natalie Baker, Director of Communication and Marketing for the Duluth Airport Authority.

The Cessna 180-185 Fly-In goes till Monday, June 3rd. Anyone interested is welcome to stop by and check out all of the planes.
