Chisholm’s Minnesota Discovery Center Has New Executive Director

CHISHOLM, Minn. — The Minnesota Discovery Center in Chisholm has a new executive director bringing a fresh perspective to the organization.

Char Conger has been at the center for about 4 months now. The well-known 660-acre campus has a museum, trolley, and 19-hole mini golf course. She says throughout the years their services have expanded. And she is hoping to enhance programs while bringing in some new and exciting things. Char says it’s all about getting people to re-discover the center.

“I think it’s building relationships in the community and really promoting ourselves as the cool place on the Iron Range and really staying true to the fact that this is a welcoming place. That everybody is welcome here,” said Char Conger, Executive Director.

Char emphasizes how much of a hidden gem this is to the area. She says places like these bring family and friends together.

“I look at it you know if you’re a newcomer to the area like I was 11 years ago this was the place where I could learn about the history of the area, learn, meet new people, feel welcome in the community, have activities for my kids to do or you know bring friends out for a night at Bands, Brews, and Barbeques or for a concert. So, I think we really have something for everybody,” said Conger.

Investments into the grounds are also taking place as the pond is being renovated. Events to look forward to is their Red Dirt Concert Series, with 5 shows throughout the summer.
