Jesse Haugen | Reis Grams

After an exhaustive search effort or a little more than two weeks, the second body of a missing canoer was located Monday in the Boundary Waters.

The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office said the body of Reis Grams, 40, of Lino Lakes, Minnesota, was discovered around 10 a.m. by the St. Louis County Rescue Squad just west of Curtain Falls near the Canadian border.

On Friday, the body of Grams’ friend, Jesse Haugen, 41, of Cambridge, Minnesota, was located.

Both went missing after going over Curtain Falls around 7:20 p.m. May 18.

The area is described by authorities as one of the most remote in the state.

Around a dozen search crews set up a base camp on the ground, utilizing boats, canoes, underwater vehicles, drones, and K9 teams.

The Sheriff’s Office told FOX 21 the men were not wearing lifejackets.
