Superior Public Library Starts Up Summer Reading Programs

SUPERIOR, Wis. — The Superior Public Library has officially started up their summer reading programs.

The programs are for all ages. This is the first time the library has had an adult summer program. For the kids they will track reading minutes and give prizes along the way to encourage them to keep going. And for adults, if they read 5 books, they will be entered into a drawing to win a gift card.

The library is hoping 400 people will sign up. You do not need a library card or be a resident in Superior to join. Staff says they hope kids remember reading is fun and keep up with their skills this summer.

“I love kids’ reading all summer. I know that a lot of kids like to be on their tablet nowadays but it’s so important to just get them reading and remember that you know books can take you on an adventure,” said Kelly Wiisanen, Manager of Family & Youth Resources.

The summer reading programs run June 1st to August 31st. The theme this year is “Adventure Begins at Your Library” with fun events throughout the summer such as a treasure hunt, outside story times and a mammoth hunter coming in August.
