Moose Lake/Willow River Boasts Experience in 1st Round Contest vs. R-T-R
The Rebels are set to make their 3rd straight state tournament appearance on Wednesday.
WILLOW RIVER, Minn.- The Moose Lake/Willow River softball team is no stranger to the state tournament in Mankato.
The Rebels are set to make their 3rd straight state tournament appearance Wednesday when they clash with Russell-Tyler- Ruthton in the Class A quarterfinals.
Moose Lake had a taste of the title game in 2022, before falling to Nicollet 3 to 2.
When matching up the Rebels and Knights, you can give the advantage to Moose Lake as Russell-Tyler-Ruthton will make their debut at state on Wednesday.
Even with the experience, the Rebels know they still have to show up and put in the work.
“I think it’s still going to be a dog fight. I mean it is every year. We get down there and there’s just great competition all around. But, I think we know the feeling and I think we know how to calm ourselves down I guess. But it’ll be fun,” said senior Lily Kahara.
“I think we’re going to have to work harder this year. Like we have to want it more than last year. I mean, yeah it’s our 3rd year coming back but we still have to work hard and show up and show out every game,” added senior Megan Hattenberger.
The Rebels and Knights get things going on Wednesday at 5:30 PM in Mankato.
