Two South Range Residents Die in Motorcycle Crash

Sheriff says it happened Sunday evening in Douglas County.

A man and woman from South Range both died Sunday evening when their motorcycle and a car crashed.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office says the names of the victims are not yet being released.

A press release said the man and woman were both 23 years old.

It was about 7:05 p.m. when deputies responded to the report of the crash in Parkland Township, at the intersection of County Hwy E and Orchard Drive.

Authorities say both people were dead at the scene.

The Sheriff’s Office said both of the victims were wearing helmets.

No information was released about the car, its driver or any occupants, or what led to the accident.

This is the third fatal motorcycle accident in the Northland since May.

On June 5, a Hermantown man was killed when his motorcycle crashed with an SUV.

And in May, a motorcyclist was killed after striking a deer.

Meanwhile, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation is urging drivers and motorcyclists to share the road.
