DULUTH, Minn. — Quilters of ages and skill levels from across the Midwest meet up in Canal Park for their annual Quilt Walk over the lift bridge.

Dozens of quilt-makers walked from the Marine Museum, across the bridge, and back. Quilters cheered, twirled, and told anyone who passed by about the upcoming Minnesota Quilt Show. Anticipation was building for the three-day event starting Thursday at the DECC.

“It’s exciting because it makes you feel good about what you’re doing,” said Heidi Foltz, co-president of the Lake Superior Quilt Guild. “When you make a quilt for someone special and you gift it, that’s the best feeling ever — to see that joy on their face.”

“And it also plants a seed for other people to become a bit more interested, be curious about quilting itself,” quilter Anne-Lu Hovis added. “Because quilting is not just a quilt that you wrap around you and something to keep you warm, but there are many quilting styles.”

The Quilt Show will have various different styles on display, including traditional, modern, and quilting art. The show will also feature workshops, quilting supplies, and art exhibits.
