Mahtomedi Ends Grand Rapids’ Title Hopes for 2nd Straight Season

Grand Rapids took 3rd place after defeating Benilde-St. Margaret's 4-1.

CHASKA, Minn.- The Grand Rapids baseball team entered state tournament play on Friday with a chance at redemption.

The Thunderhawks met up with the Zephyrs of Mahtomedi for the 2nd straight year in the AAA semifinals.

Sadly, like last year Mahtomedi came away with the victory as they ended Grand Rapids’ title hopes, 5 to 3.

The Zephyrs put up three runs in the first and one run in the 2nd and would not look back.

Following that game, Grand Rapids took 3rd place after defeating Benilde-St. Margaret’s 4-1.
