Grandma’s Marathon Officials Monitoring Weather Threats

DULUTH, Minn. — With Grandmas Marathon taking place this weekend, organizers are keeping a close eye on potential weather threats.

Race staff have been working with the National Weather Service to monitor rain events and patterns for the race weekend are showing rain with potential thunderstorms.

Organizers say the race is currently as planned but they will continue to watch for any threats that would impede the safety of runners, volunteers and spectators.

“It might turn out to be one of those, where were you when, type of Grandma’s Marathon weekends with the rain that they’re expecting,” said Zach Schneider, the marketing and public relations director. “Which is okay, because I think if you show up with a smile on your face and the right attitude that even days like that can be fun and we have no doubt that this will be a fun Grandma’s Marathon weekend despite maybe some challenges with the weather.”

Grandmas Marathon is as it stands, but the weather will be monitored up to Saturday in case any changes need to be made.
