Sheriff: Source of Grand Marais Pride Bomb Threat Came From Russia

GRAND MARIAS, Minn. — The Cook County Sheriff’s Office has determined the source of the bomb threat from over the weekend that was directed at a Pride Event in Grand Marais.

Officials said the threat came from an e-mail address located in Moscow, Russia, which has been used in multiple similar threats across the United States.

The threat may have been bot generated, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

On Saturday, the Cook County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a bomb threat at the pride festival in Grand Marais.

The Sheriff’s Office performed a precautionary sweep and determined there was no indication of threat.

In a news release, the Sheriff’s Office said it is “extremely unlikely the subject resides anywhere close to Cook County, and it is not considered a credible threat.”
