19th Annual Rhubarb Festival Raises Money for Chum

DULUTH, Minn. — Northlanders flocked to the 19th annual Rhubarb Festival on Saturday, getting their fix of all kinds of rhubarb treats.

All sorts of fun taking place at the rhubarb fest at the Holy Rosary Campus of Stella Maris Academy.

Each year the event is hosted by Chum, who is commemorating its 50th Anniversary this year.

And of course you can’t have a Super Rhurbarb Fest without the vegetable itself. Rhubarb lemonade and rhubarb brats were available to snack on.
People could also pick up rhubarb pie from the bake sale.

“There’s something for everyone. The kids have face painting, there’s delicious desserts inside, there’s awesome food over in the food tent,” said Bradley Zwagerman, Chum Director of Communications & Marketing. “And I think Duluth loves it because not only does this community like to have a good time but they like to do something that’s beneficial for everyone else who couldn’t make it.”

The festival raised money for Chum as each pie sold gives someone in need a spot at the Chum downtown shelter for a night.
