Blast From the Past: Earth Rider Hosts Tribute to 1967 Monterey Pop Festival
Twin Ports artists performed their own renditions of some 60's classics
SUPERIOR, Wis. — Things were getting groovy at Earth Rider Brewery in Superior on Sunday afternoon.
Fans put on their best “Summer of Love” apparel for ‘Twin Ports Does The Monterey Pop Festival 1967.’ The concert was a tribute to the festival best known for performances by Jimi Hendrix and The Who. It also introduced Janis Joplin and Otis Redding to the public.
Today, music lovers enjoyed local acts playing blasts from the past — and of course, beer!
“It is such a pleasure; we love hosting these,” said Isabella Pike, the event coordinator at Earth Rider. “That is really what our summertime goal is: to get community out. Music is such a great connector for people and that’s what we see here. Any ages, any kind of lifestyle that you have, you can come and appreciate music and connect and the thing same with beer.”
This isn’t the first time Earth Rider has paid tribute to past music events. The brewery prides itself on connecting the past and the present, as well as supporting small and local artists.
And it’s not too late to check out the sips and sounds! Next Saturday, they’re hosting the first annual Twin Ports Monsters of Rock next Saturday evening.
