Famous Daves Hosts Whole Hog Roasts On Wednesday Nights In July

HERMANTOWN, Minn. — After a trip to Texas a couple months ago, the owner of Famous Daves got some tasty inspiration.

Wednesday nights throughout the month of July, the restaurant will be roasting a whole hog. After 4 p.m. customers can stop by and taste the fresh meat right off the pit. Each person will get a good portion of the pork and a few sides.

The pig is made with a special sauce. And for around 11-12 hours it is smoked using hickory wood, which delivers that classic barbeque flavor.

“But really when you put all those flavors together with the smoked bacon, and the roasted bacon that’s in here along with those other cuts of meat. You really get a whole bunch of flavors that come through so, when you have them on here, we grab a little bit off each part of the pig, chop it together, mix it around. So, you really get a nice flavorful bite of the product. You really see that there is more than just eating one portion, and one portion, but not that those aren’t great but it’s just nice to have them all together in one presentation,” said Greg Toon, owner of Famous Daves in Hermantown.

Famous Daves offers whole hog roasts through catering events as well. The hog can feed around 75 to 100 people so stop in on Wednesday nights while supplies last.
