DULUTH, Minn. — The 4th of July festivities have officially started in Duluth.

Fourth Fest is a free and accessible event. Gates open at 4 p.m. Thursday with the firework show at 10 p.m. Organizers say it has been going on for almost 30 years. This week brings a lot of people to the area.

“Over the course of this week we’ll have almost 30,000 people in the park, across all the different events. So, it takes a small village, it takes all of the city workers that maintain this park each and every day and it takes hundreds of vendors and contractors and all the people that are doing the work behind the scenes. In order to make this a party that’s worthy of all the Duluthians and surrounding neighbors to come down here and celebrate this 4th of July week,” said Jeff Stark, President of Winterfell Management.

The events at Bayfront don’t end here. Throughout the rest of the season there is plenty more to come. And by the time summer is over around 150,000-200,000 people are estimated to make their way to Duluth.
