Red Cliff Man Dies from Injuries After Falling from a Tree

FLEMING TOWNSHIP, Minn. – A 27-year-old  Red Cliff man is dead after the tree branch he was climbing on snapped.

The accident happened on July 4. According to the report, 27-year-old Henry M. Cannon was celebrating the holiday with friends when he climbed a large White Pine tree in a yard off the shoreline of Gun Lake.

Cannon was approximately twenty-five feet above the ground when the estimated 2” tree branch snapped, resulting in his fall.

Cannon was unconscious and sustained multiple severe internal injuries. He was transported to Riverwood Hospital and was given life saving efforts before being pronounced dead. 

The incident was investigated by the Aitkin County Sheriff’s Office. McGregor Fire Department, Palisade First Responders, and North Ambulance responded to this incident.
