I-535 Construction Causes Lane Closures in Coming Weeks

DULUTH, Minn. Crossing from Duluth to Superior will become more of a hassle for drivers in the next coming weeks.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation will close the Blatnik Bridge for construction on July 13, 15, and 16.

On July 13, the on-ramp from Garfield in Duluth and the southbound side of I-535 heading to Superior will close from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. 

The northbound side of the Blatnik Bridge from Superior is expected to close from 10 a.m. on Monday, July 15 through 10 p.m. Tuesday, July 16.

Traffic is advised to reroute to the Richard I. Bong Bridge during construction.

Single lane closures are also expected in both directions between July 8 through July 25, Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to allow for routine bridge inspection and maintenance.
