Duluth Huskies Baseball Team Reads To Young Fans
CLOQUET, Minn. — The Duluth Huskies baseball team made a stop at the Cloquet Public Library Monday.
Players read stories, answered questions and showed little leaders some of their stretches. Each kid got to go home with a free signed book. The book that was read was about how baseball is in Japan. Staff said everyone learned something from it.
“This book specifically, Take Me Out to the Yakyu, I thought was really cool because it explored baseball not only in America but also in Japan which I think a lot of the kids maybe didn’t know about it before like I know before I read the book, I didn’t really know about the baseball culture in Japan. So, it’s really interesting and really awesome to be able to introduce people to new stuff and learn about different cultures,” said Morgan Reardon, Children’s Librarian.
Players said they really enjoyed being at this event.
“I thought it was great to come, help, read to these little kids. Give back to the community because they’re the ones that show up to our games every day, support us, help us get through the tough times on the field sometimes and if we can come give back in any way that’s the least we can do,” said Ian Fisher, left-handed pitcher.
Huskie players have more community events this summer such as Bark in the Park which is where everyone can bring their dog to the game this Saturday.
