UMD Large Lakes Observatory to Host Discovery Event
DULUTH, Minn. — At the end of the month, UMD’s Large Lakes Observatory will be hosting an event, spreading knowledge on research happening on Lake Superior.
The first ever Freshwater Discovery Day will take place on July 31. The all-day event will kick off with a cruise on Lake Superior. Scientists and UMD students will share their findings and stories about the biggest great lake. The rest of the day will involve multiple activities to choose from, such as touring the research vessel– the Blue Heron and demonstrations.
“This event is out attempt to really focus our activities and create something really special for people to attend and just deepen their understanding about what’s in the lake, how the lake is changing, what concerns do we have looking forward,” said Robert Sterner, UMD Large Lakes Observatory Director.
Lunch and dinner are included and profits from the event will go towards supporting research on the lake. Anyone ages ages 12 and up are welcome to attend.
