Huskies Survive Hot Temps, Outscore First-Place Honkers
Fourth win in five games
DULUTH, Minn.- The Duluth Huskies embraced the 90-degree temps at Wade Stadium on Sunday, defeating the Central Plains East-leading Rochester Honkers 9-8.
Duluth came alive in the bottom of the second inning, scoring five runs to go ahead 6-1. Rochester would retake the lead in the sixth inning, but the Huskies re-gained control of the game in the seventh with three more runs.
Sam Kratz (1-0) earned the win at the mound, striking out two batters in two innings. At the plate, three Huskies (Cardell Thibodeaux, Josh Duarte, and Jayden Duplantier) finished with two RBIs.
Duluth and Rochester will face off again on Monday at 6:35 p.m., after which the Huskies will only have 12 games remaining this regular season.
