DULUTH, Minn. — Court documents have revealed a man who was stabbed in the neck in downtown Duluth did not know the suspect, according to the victim.

The suspect, Jake Pyrlik, 30, of Duluth, is accused of slashing the throat of Bryce Brim, 29, because Brim would not share drugs with him, according to the criminal complaint.

The crime was reported around 3:45 a.m., July 16, in the Gichi-Ode’ Akiing Park at 214 East Superior Street — specifically in the stairway that connects to the Lake Walk where Brim and two others were “smoking drugs,” according to the criminal complaint.

Brim, who was bleeding uncontrollably, ran out of the park where he was found outside the Sheraton Hotel, according to police.

Brim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.  On July 17, the was recovering from surgery.

As for Pyrlik, he was found outside the Duluth Public Library where he was arrested.  He was held in the St. Louis County Jail Thursday on a $250,000 bail.

Pyrlik’s next court date is Aug. 13.
