MnDOT Finds Unexpected Amount Of ‘Deteriorated Concrete’ On I-35 Duluth Ramp

DULUTH, Minn. – One of the most traveled I-35 ramps in Duluth will be shut down for weeks because of unexpected concrete damage.

MnDOT told FOX 21 crews were planning to fix “some deteriorated concrete” on I-35 ramps in Duluth when they found additional concrete concerns on the Lake Avenue on-ramp for Northbound I-35.

So because of that discovery, a MnDOT spokesperson said officials “temporarily paused work to make further assessment.”

The ramp will be closed until late August.

MnDOT said bridges and ramps “are routinely inspected to make sure they are safe for the travelling public.”
