Veterans Experience Boundary Waters Getaway

Bwca Vets

SUPERIOR Wi. — Veterans are taking a nature trip to celebrate serving our country.

A handful of veterans are heading out on a weeklong getaway to the Boundary Waters in Ely. The participants will do activities such as fishing, canoeing, and playing cards. This free annual trip has been going on for eight years now, and each time, the participants take something away from it. It’s a great opportunity for storytelling, and a time for bonding with each other.

“All of the veterans that have gone on this trip have really enjoyed it.” said program leader and Army Veteran Duane Laslie. “They like connecting with other veterans. It gives them the opportunity to sit back, relax, and get away from the grind.”

The Richard Bong Museum is always hosting events for veterans, as well as for the community. For more information, you can check out their website.
