4-H Hosts First Ever Puppet Camp at the Duluth Depot
DULUTH, Minn. — The Duluth Depot is hosting some puppet-masters in the making this week.
4-H Duluth, in collaboration with the Depot is holding its first ever puppet camp. It’s a week-long program that aims to teach 3rd through 6th graders the art of the puppet. From choosing the story to designing the characters, these students are in control of the narrative.
One of the organizers there explained why the arts and programs like these can be so important.
“Performing arts uses skills that transfer to the workforce, so team building, also just communication and public speaking, and giving youth that platform to build their confidence,” said Kate Preiner, 4-H Extension Educator.
The students are putting their performance together throughout this week and will showcase their story on Thursday at 4:30 in the afternoon for family and friends to enjoy.
