FinnFest Back at the DECC

DULUTH, Minn. — A 5-day event showcasing the Finnish culture starts Wednesday in Duluth.

FinnFest is all about bringing people together and celebrating the Nordic heritage. The event features cultural food such as salmon soup and Finnish pancakes. As well as music, language seminars, and foreign affairs topics. One highlight is an up-and-coming sport in Finland called Floorball.

“So, floorball is a game that is similar to hockey but is played in a gym with plastic sticks. It’s actually a professional sport in Europe and it is the second most popular sport in Finland, and one of the most fastest growing sports in the world. It literally is very affordable, it’s amazing cardio, and it’s really accessible for all,” said Ira Mimmu Salmela, Executive Director of FinnFest.

FinnFest starts Wednesday and ends Sunday taking place at the DECC. Check out their website for ticket details.
