One Dead After Early Morning Fire in Duluth Apartment

DULUTH, Minn. — One person is dead after an early morning fire that happened in Duluth.

The Duluth Fire Department says the call came in just before 2:30 a.m. Thursday on the 600 block of 47th Avenue East.

Fire crews located an active fire inside a unit on the first floor of a three-story, seven-unit apartment complex.

Authorities say the fire was extinguished within 8 minutes of dispatch.

6 residents and multiple pets were safely evacuated. One person was found dead. No other injuries were reported and no other residents or pets were displaced.

Damages are estimated at $25,000. The incident is under investigation by the Duluth Fire Marshal’s office.
