Blueberry Festival Returns for its 60th Year
IRON RIVER, Wis. — Iron River celebrated their 60th annual Blueberry Festival on an early note this year.
Thursday, the community gathered and watched as local preformed their best talent acts for all to see.
On Friday, families got out to the park for a free movie night at Moon Lake Park.
But Saturday, the crowds rolled in for usual festival events. Live music was performed on both days by local musicians like Scott Bruce, TrueGrass Trio, Low Hanging Fruit, The Dweebs. Organizers also shared that the park was packed with almost 3,000 spectators for this year’s firework display.
But Sunday saw the march down main street for the annual Blueberry Festival parade.
“It takes thousands of hours to plan this,” said Organizer Anne Madison, a member of Iron River Lions Club. “It takes a lot of minut details to make this all happen. But the moment I see the kids smiling and the moment that I hear friends talking that haven’t seen each other for a while, or I see people just enjoying the wonderful food. I see it all come together — it is so worth all the work.”
Must-have items returned to Blueberry Festival this year. Jim’s Meat market made blueberry brats and another booth served blueberry lemonade.
During the hot afternoons, people also had the chance to cool off by taking a dip into Moon Lake.
