Superior Firefighters Deal With Heat As They Put Out House Fire

Superior Fire

SUPERIOR, Wis. – The Superior Fire Department was busy dealing with a house fire, as well as this weekend’s hot and humid conditions, late Saturday afternoon.

The initial call came in just after 5:30 p.m. for light smoke coming from a single-family home on the 2300 block of Tower Avenue.

Firefighters found the fire in the attic and quickly put it out.  However, they stayed on scene over the next several hours to put out new hotspots that were being found in the cellulose insulation and other materials.

The department says 16 of their members from all three companies were at the scene.  Mayo Ambulance was on site to provide firefighters rehab and medical evaluations due to the heat and humidity.  The Superior Police Department also assisted at the scene.

No one was injured at the scene, and two cats were rescued from the home.  Damage is estimated at around $50,000.

A cause remains under investigation.
