The St. Louis County Fair Returns to Chisholm for the 139th Year
CHISHOLM, Minn. — A long-standing summer tradition has returned to northern Minnesota.
The St. Louis County Fair has been running since 1885. It takes place for five days each summer in Chisholm.
From horse shows and amusement rides, there’s plenty to do and explore. And don’t forget to grab some classic fair treats, from mini donuts, lemonade and kettle corn.
Over time, the fair has grown, and new things are added each year.
“We got to move into this spot which is about five times bigger than what we had over in Hibbing, so it allowed us to expand. We’ve got several new buildings in the last couple of years,” said Ray Erspamer, St. Louis Country Agricultural Society president.
There’s activities for all ages, and as we enter into August, the fair acts as celebration of summer.
“All summer long we work on the fair, trying to get it up and ready and we’re so excited and when the fair is over, we think, it’s almost fall, so it’s great to see the people coming and enjoying themselves,” said Erspamer.
The fair will run though Sunday, August 5. Different events are happening each day, such as glass blowing demonstrations and magic shows.
