Well-Known Wisconsin Cheese Company Comes to Duluth

DULUTH, Minn. — One of Wisconsin’s oldest cheese companies just made their first step into Minnesota.

Thursday, August 1, Burnett Dairy Cooperative will be opening Burnett Dairy Duluth Cheese Store at the base of Spirit Mountain next to the Ski Hut Adventure Center.

The farmer-owned company will be selling their iconic cheese selection, while also partnering with local businesses like Duluth’s Best Bread and Duluth Coffee Company.

This is now the third store in the 128-year-old company’s history.

Management tells us that one thing that sets them apart from other companies is local farmer integrity.

“It’s very important to shop local,” said Jamie Swan, the vice president of relation operations at Burnett Dairy Cooperative. “As you know we are farmer owned. So, we want everybody to buy cheese from us. And so, it’s really important to us. It’s part of the special story that you get when you come into this store, to get local products.”

The store also will feature dine-in and take-out options for their over two dozen ice-cream flavors and a dozen wood fire pizzas.

Burnett Dairy Duluth Cheese Store will be set to open Monday through Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
