Cloquet Hosts First Sidewalk Days Event In Decades
CLOQUET, Minn.– For the first time in decades, small businesses are banding together for a week of sales, togetherness, and collaboration.
Owners of shops along Cloquet Avenue discussed wanting a fun sales event before the summer ended, and made it happen.
“We had come up with the idea a while back because we’re like, we need to get more business down this area” said Bethany Sunnaborg, partial owner of Abundant Baby.
“There’s not a lot of community it feels like, for businesses down here. So, we were like you know what, let’s try to figure out a way to do sidewalk sales. That seems to be bringing in a lot of people because they know they’re going to get deals. Especially it’s a perfect time. It’s right before school starts.” Sunnaborg continued.
For some of the owners, being able to see familiar faces back in their shops is equally as enjoyable.
Well, I was born and raised in Cloquet. So, most of the folks I know, I can greet them by name. So, they’re really not a big deal. So, they come in ‘Hey, hi, Craig, how are you doing’? Hey, pretty good, Tom!’ You know what I mean?” explained Craig Beck, owner of Garden Isle Bath and Body.
These sales will be continuing until Saturday
