Farmers Market Cookout Raises Money for Alzheimer’s

SUPERIOR, Wis. — Senior Connections was cooking up brats and hotdogs Wednesday to support a cause that impacts many.

Senior Connections hosted its annual Farmers Market Cookout in Superior.

The money made from the cookout goes towards the Twin Ports Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Senior Connections have already surpassed its original fundraising goal for the walk.

The team at the cookout said they started with nearly 100 hot dogs and brats, and usually sell out each year.

“We are a tight-knit community and no one even thinks twice about coming out to support not only this cause, but many causes in our community,” said Tracy Martinson, Senior Connections, Office Support Specialist. “Our elderly population, they need as much support as they can get, and this community really does such a nice job supporting everyone in that way.”

The Twin Ports Walk to End Alzheimer’s will take place September 7.

The walk is a chance for families and caregivers of those with the disease to meet and share stories, all while raising money for Alzheimer’s research and care.
