Bent Paddle Patrons Go for Gold in ‘Summer Beer Olympics’
Organized by Minnesota Brewery Running Series
DULUTH, Minn.- While most of us don’t have what it takes to compete on the world stage in Paris, a few dozen locals got to experience the rush of competition at the “Summer Beer Olympics” at Bent Paddle Brewing Company.
The event was organized by the Minnesota Brewery Running Series, which also hosted a 5K fun run that same day. Since 2012, the organization has hosted races at breweries across Minnesota.
“This is our ninth time here at Bent Paddle Brewing Company,” says Morgan Jappe, the co-founder of the Minnesota Brewery Running Series. “We love an excuse to get up to Duluth.”
The Summer Beer Olympics, which was also held in three other breweries, was obviously in celebration of the 2024 Summer Olympics. Games included a beer pong distance contest, a plank contest, and a “Pass the Pint Relay” in which competitors were judged on speed and not spilling a full pint of beer.
“The breweries are perfect event hosts because it’s a casual place to hang out,” says Jappe. It gets people of all ages, all levels out into the community supports local business like it’s just such a great way for us to host events at fun places.”
