New Coach, New Mentality for Duluth East Football Team
Duluth East's first game is August 29th at Esko.
DULUTH, Minn.- It was the start of a new beginning for the Duluth East football team as head coach Blane Tetreault led the Greyhounds in his first practice on Monday.
Tetreault has over 100 players, grades nine through 12, out for football this season.
The Greyhounds will look to turn things around after posting just a 1-8 record in 2023.
Tetreault said with his previous college stints, mixed with the resources and talent of the team, he has plenty of optimism for his Duluth East squad heading into the new year.
“I have high expectations for us and what we can do. At the same time, I know that it’s more than what we’re doing on the field, more than just the wins and the losses. I have a great opportunity with these young guys to really make an impression on them and really have an impact on their lives. Between on the field activities, on what we’re trying to do and off the field, I’m really excited to build a new culture here and really see where we can go,” said Tetreault.
For this year’s seniors, they only get one season to work with Tetreault. But, they plan to shape the future Greyhound teams for years to come.
“We’re all learning right now and we’ve all learned to embrace that. It’s just awesome that the entire team gets to learn together. We’re all being challenged, everyone is new to this playbook and it’s just really exciting to see everyone learn and see these plays start to click. I’m really excited to watch this team grow and I think this first day was great,” said senior wide receiver and linebacker, Preston Dallek.
“The thing that excites me the most is the fact that we get to set the foundation for how many years he plans to coach for. It just excites me that we’re the first year that it happens,” added senior tight end and linebacker, Virgil Brown.
