New School Year, New Glasses at RELF Eyecare Specialists

HERMANTOWN, Minn. — With a new school season getting started a local eye doctor is stressing the importance of healthy vision.

RELF Eyecare Specialists wants a community of healthy eyes for the back-to-school season. Optometrists say it’s a good idea to get an eye exam to see if glasses are needed before those eyes look up at the white board.

“This is an important time of year, the last month before school starts, to make sure kids don’t have any learning issues, 80% of what we take in is visual, so we like to start them off with the best vision we can,” said Dr. Janelle Strom, Optometrist.

Glasses aren’t just a flashy accessory for the new year. Experts say they can positively impact the quality of a child’s education.

“The visual system is so important in the quality of learning, and helping kids get the most out of school as they can, so having a proper eye exam with proper correction and diagnosing any problems is imperative,” said Dr. Derek Michaelis, Optometrist.

To avoid that squinting and headaches, that’s for sure. Relf Eyecare Specialists is located in Hermantown.
