Backpacker Dies While Hiking at Isle Royale National Park in Michigan
HOUGHTON, Mich. — A backpacker died while hiking at Isle Royale National Park late afternoon Monday.
According to the press release the woman from Battle Creek, Michigan was hiking with her partner when she experienced “sudden onset medical complications.” As her condition worsened, she wasn’t able to walk, lost consciousness, and stopped breathing.
Authorities say CPR was provided and attempts to resuscitate her were unsuccessful.
Prank rangers and EMTs located and stayed with the party Monday evening. Tuesday early morning the party was transported to a remote location.
Authorities say an investigation is ongoing.
