Stuff the Bus Campaign Sends Students to School with New School Supplies
DULUTH, Minn. — Northland students are receiving much needed school supplies thanks to a collaborative effort.
In Duluth, over 250 backpacks were donated through the Stuff the Bus campaign, along with 1,200 items like crayons and calculators. It’s an effort lead by Head of the Lakes United Way.
The initiative hopes to reduce the financial burden of attending school on area families and teachers.
“We bring these supplies to things like the open houses at the schools, and it’s so nice to be able to say to families. Don’t worry about it, you know, they have their school supply list with them, and they’re stressed about getting glue or getting a ruler, and we can just say, we’ve got it, you know, it’s no worry,” said Kelsey Gantzer, Executive Director, Duluth Community Schools Collaborative.
Collections have concluded for the Duluth area, but are still open in Superior, Ashland, and Lake County.
