Longtime Assistant Rob Downs Named New Head Coach of Superior Boys Hockey

Former head coach Evan Nelson is staying on the staff as an assistant coach.

SUPERIOR, Wis.- The Superior boys hockey coaching staff has shaken up a bit.

Evan Nelson is stepping down as the head coach after two seasons at the helm.

Longtime assistant Rob Downs is set to take over after 19 seasons on the staff.

Nelson isn’t leaving the team though as he’s expected to serve as an assistant this upcoming season.

Superior went 8-12-3 in the 2023-2024 season.
