Denfeld’s Anderson Reflects on Coaching Career as 30th Season Looms
Anderson thankful for players, Denfeld community
DULUTH, Minn.- As the Duluth Denfeld boys soccer team prepares for the 2024 season, Head Coach Scott Anderson was honored for his storied career at the Hunters’ helm.
Anderson is entering his 30th season coaching Duluth Denfeld after starting his time with the Hunters as an assistant coach. He’s also been a part of Gitchee Gumee Soccer Club from its inception, teaching kids across the Twin Ports the fundamentals of soccer.
Friday night, the Denfeld community recognized Anderson’s contributions to the school ahead of their annual alumni game. While Anderson is known for being humble, he told Fox 21 he’s learned a lot during his time as head coach.
“I was 25 when I started, so, you know, do the math,” Anderson joked. “That’s a lot of experience. I’ve learned that I can always learn. Every year, I learn something new, I go to clinics to learn some stuff and you just keep going, you know? And then, just working with the kids is a blast. We’re excited for the season. You know, I got a good group of kids coming back, a lot of seniors, a lot of experience, so should be a great season there.”
The Hunters open the 2024 season on Friday, August 23 against Mahtomedi, with their home opener set for August 27 against North Branch.
