Monday Morning Northland Forecast: 8/19/2024

A Summery August Week

With the exception of the Air Quality Alert til noon today (thanks to fires in Canada), this will be a perfect late August week of weather! The average high and low for today is 76 and 55, and that is almost exactly where we will be for the next 5 days. We are a little above normal in rainfall, for the month and the year, which is good, since our next decent chance for rainfall isn’t til next Monday.

A huge, strong area of high pressure will park itself over the Northland for the entire week. As you can guess, it means a week of sunshine, light winds, warm temps, and dry conditions. As the high moves off to the east, we will warm up a little bit this coming weekend, as the winds will shift to the south, bringing up some warmer air from the southern US. That will also bring us a better chance for rain, roughly a week from today. There is a slight chance for rain this Friday, but until I see some atmospheric changes, I’m not convinced that’s going to amount to anything measurable.

So, enjoy what will be a delightful week of weather in the Northland. Because the first day of fall is only about a month away!
