Broadband Project to Benefit Over 200 Homes In Cloquet
CLOQUET, Minn. — A new fiber optic internet investment is officially underway in Cloquet.
Consolidated Telephone Company or CTC broke ground on Monday on the new broadband project there. This comes after a nearly $100 million dollar investment from the state of Minnesota. The CTC project will upgrade internet access for 246 homes in Cloquet allowing for a faster and more reliable experience for those using it.
“Broadband has become so critical, and especially in some hard to get to areas and rural areas, getting broadband there can be really expensive and time-consuming,” said Andy Isackson, Chief Marketing Officer for CTC. “We were able to apply for a grant, that was available through the border-to-border state program, and with that, we were able to get awarded that grant which allowed us to invest some of CTC’s money to help make it work as well as other partners and entities in the area, and a lot of help to make it happen.”
Construction for this project is already underway and is expected wrap up by this fall and internet will be installed this winter.
