Tuesday Morning Northland Forecast: 8/27/2024

A Much Cooler Day!

It’s hard to believe we topped out at 90 degrees in Duluth yesterday! By Friday, that will seem like a very distant memory. The record high temp for Monday is 93, set in 1937. So, we didn’t miss that by much. The average high for Monday is 74 degrees, so we were way above that. And the dew points were ridiculously sticky, in the low to mid 70s. Thankfully, things have returned to more normal levels today. Whew!

A stationary front draped across Minnesota continues to be the focal point for showers today, as the battle between air masses continues over our heads. We will see more clouds than sun today, with scattered showers, primarily before lunchtime. Our high today will only be about 70 degrees, far below the heat we put up with yesterday. It will also become quite breezy, with winds off the Lake up to 20mph this afternoon. After we cool into the lower 50s tonight, we will see a return of sunshine tomorrow, with a high of only 65 degrees. Thursday could be an all day soaker, with more than an inch of rain possible, and a high of 72. After that, the sunshine is back to stay for several days, with highs in the 70s Friday and Saturday, cooling to the upper 60s Sunday and Monday. It will also be quite windy for the next several days, topping out with NW winds to 25mph hour both Friday and Saturday.

And next Monday, when we top out at a mere 67 degrees, you’ll ask yourself, “Did we really hit 90 degrees a week ago today?!”
