2024 Mayor’s Pride Reception Kicks Off
DULUTH, Minn.–Pride is in the air once more, as the annual mayor’s reception kicked off Thursday afternoon.
The reception at the Depot, accompanied by local musicians was a hit. It’s a chance for officials to mingle with the community, and most importantly, to celebrate.
This is the first year Duluth Mayor Reinert is officiating this event, and he has made equality a priority.
“Part of my comments tonight are going to be to remind people that this hasn’t always been. And it really has not been that long ago where it was quite controversial. You know for me as an elected official, my proudest moment in the legislature as a state senator was voting for marriage equality.” said Mayor Roger Reinert.
This year’s pride celebrations include a brilliant new addition to the lineup!
“Well, I am super excited to announce that for what we think is the first time ever, we’re lighting the areal lift bridge for pride.”
said Reinert, “There’s a few mayors’ discretionary days, I’m using one of those on Saturday.”
The festivities will take place from August 29th to September 1st.
There will be gatherings in both Superior, and Duluth.
