All 87 Minnesota Counties Represented with 4-H Projects at the State Fair

FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. — For over 100 years the Minnesota 4H program has helped kids learn more about agriculture, STEM, and leadership development skills, all while discovering new interests.
“It’s about finding their passion. It doesn’t have to be agriculture. It doesn’t have to be the old clothing and foods projects that maybe 4H in the old days was known for,” said Amber Greeley, the superintendent of 4H at the State Fair.
At this year’s State Fair, all 87 Minnesota counties were represented with 4H projects.
These projects ranged from traditional agriculture to technology, photography, civic engagement. Minnesota’s 4H programs partnerships with the state fair allows the community to learn more about the program.
“We’re a small piece of the puzzle but a really important part. For a lot of people, this is the time we get to experience agriculture in form of the livestock down in the barns and they get to go through the building and see the youth and see what they have been working on and for our youth to be able to show the public,” said Greeley.
“It’s very important for people to know what we do around here. To get them educated and help with youth, like if they have kids and we really want their kids in our program to help them develop into the great citizens and in people in their community,” said Josh Yates, a Minnesota State 4H Ambassador.
