Back To School: Gov. Evers Visits Superior Middle School
SUPERIOR, Wis.– It was a special first day at Superior Middle School. That’s because Governor Tony Evers paid a visit.
It was part of his back-to-school tour today. Evers has a long career in education ranging from being a teacher all the way up to state superintendent.
“To me it’s even more important to be in schools especially at this time of year where people’s coming back. And everybody’s happy and excited. But then we want to make sure that people understand how important our public schools are.” said Gov. Evers.
Two students were chosen to lead Governor Evers through a tour of their classrooms.
“When I heard, I felt really lucky that it was this year he chose to come. And then a little bit later I felt nervous if I was going to do bad. But then as I went in, I felt fine.” said 8th grade student Liam Davis.
“I was kind of nervous at first, but it was really cool to be around people with a prominent voice. And it was cool, he seemed really genuine and sweet.” added 8th grade student Julia Matushak.
Evers also made stops at schools today in Milwaukee and Eau Claire.
