Thursday Morning Northland Forecast: 9/5/2024
A Gray Thursday
I don’t mind a gray, overcast sky once in a while. In fact, I actually welcome it. I find it to be easier on the eyes. Blue skies and sunshine are generally considered to be more picturesque, but not having to squint from the sun in your eyes is okay, too. And, that is exactly what we have today. The rain has moved away, but the gray skies are here to stay…for a while.
We really didn’t get much rain out of this latest system. Just .06″ of precipitation at the Duluth Airport. The heavier rain was definitely in northeast Wisconsin, and into the U.P. of Michigan, where most areas got from a half inch to almost an inch just since midnight. Winds from the northwest will make it much cooler than yesterday’s late summer high of 78 degrees. We will only hit about 68 for a high today. Friday’s high will only hit 62, and some areas could see light frost by Saturday morning, with lows in the upper 30s. But then we start a nice warm-up, with highs of 64 and 74 on Saturday and Sunday. And next week, highs in the mid 70s is the norm, all week long. Autumn doesn’t arrive til September 22nd, so we are not quite done with comfortable, warm weather just yet.
So, lose the sunglasses for today. Let your eyes open wide, and take in the world around you, at a slightly lower light intensity. You’ll have the bright sunshine back in your face, tomorrow!
