Friday Evening Northland Forecast: 9/6/2024
Frost and Freeze Alerts
We have some crazy temperature swings in the Northland. A week ago Monday, we hit 90 degrees. Next week, we will be up around 80 degrees for four days in a row. But tonight, we have a Frost Advisory for the whole viewing area, and a Freeze Warning for the northern 2/3 of both Lake and Cook counties. My goodness, forecasting weather here is never dull!
Tonight, cool air will descend into lower elevations, and we will have almost completely calm winds. Both those things will contribute to the Frost and Freeze alerts in the area. It’s just for Saturday morning, though. By Sunday, we will warm up significantly, and this little spell of chilly weather will head back up north, into Canada…for a while. A giant dome of high pressure from the desert southwest will visit us all next week, bringing an entire week of sunshine, and warm temperatures. Our normal high for today is 71 degrees. We will be up around 80 degrees almost every day next week! Autumn arrives on September 22nd, so this late summer heatwave may be enjoyable, but don’t expect it to stick around forever. But for the next few days, just enjoy how warmth and sunshine feels.
We all know that fall, and then winter are inevitable. I just enjoy that for awhile at least, I don’t have to talk about dressing in layers!
Have a great weekend!
