9-11 Remembrance Ceremony at AMSOIL Arena Honors the Lives Lost
DULUTH, Minn. — A remembrance ceremony was held in Duluth as Wednesday marks the 23rd anniversary of the 9-11 terrorist attacks on the United States.
Members of the Duluth Fire Department, participated in a memorial stair climb at AMSOIL Arena, climbing the same number of steps as there were in the 110 stories of the Twin Towers.
The stair climb honored the 343 firefighters who lost their lives trying to save others.
A Duluth Police Chaplain shared his memories from ground zero in New York, where he assisted in stress management for the recovery team.
“We saw lots of frustration, we saw a lot of faith response,” said Father John Petrich, Duluth Police Chaplain. “We saw a lot of people going to the foundations of who they are in life and being able to deal with something that was more than any mind or heart could ever see or deal with.”
The ceremony honored and remembered the nearly 3,000 lives that were lost during the attacks.
