Friday Evening Northland Forecast: 9/13/2024

Foggy Friday Night

This has been an easy week to forecast the weather, and a terrific week to enjoy it! We had partly to mostly sunny skies each day, with above normal temps, both at night, and in the afternoons. Today has been a little more grey, as strong winds off the lake have helped to produce thick fog all day, and this evening, too. The fog will be here in the morning also, so folks should be aware of that, and take things a little more slowly til the fog burns away by late morning.

The one thing we didn’t have this week was any rain. We are close to a half inch below normal for the year, and about an inch and a half down for the month. A good day of rain would take care of both those deficits, but I don’t see that coming anytime soon. We do have a 30% chance for rain on Saturday and Monday, but neither of those events look to be more than about a tenth of an inch of rain each day. We will continue to have above normal temps for the next week, as we go thru the final week of astronomical summer. The autumnal equinox is a week from Sunday, on September 22nd. Then, there will be no doubt that autumn is fully here!

So, next week will be very similar to the week we just had. Above normal temps, mainly dry, and largely sunny. It looks like we finally might have a significant cool down the next week, toward the end of September. We all knew summer couldn’t last forever…whether you go by meteorological or astronomical summer. It’s finally time to turn that page.

Have a great weekend!
