Second Harvest Northland Raise Awareness During Hunger Action Month

DULUTH, Minn. — Second Harvest Northland held a public behind the scenes tour on Thursday.

It’s all part of their campaign to raise awareness, food, and funds during Hunger Action Month. The support garnered will go towards feeding one in nine Northland neighbors, including over 18,000 children. The organization serves 15 counties across Northeast Minnesota and Northwest Wisconsin. As much as 90% of the food at area food shelves comes from Second Harvest.

“Raising awareness during September’s Hunger Action Month is really important. We want people to remember there are neighbors that are facing food insecurity and that’s really important that way they’ll lend a hand. So, whether people wanna volunteer, you know attend a tour and learn more about us, raise awareness through our social media channels by sharing our posts and liking our posts, and providing financial support. We could do our work without this region. So that’s really what we aim to achieve this month,” said Shaye Moris, President and CEO of Second Harvest Northland.

With the end of the post pandemic benefits, the regions 60 food shelves that are supported by Second Harvest have experienced higher demand. To donate or get involved in other ways visit secondharvestnorthland.org.
